Welcome to the UI Alumni Network - 2016 University of Illinois Alumni Awards


Illinois alumni are recognized throughout the year for their successes and contributions. Every year during Commencement weekend at the University of Illinois, the University of Illinois Alumni Association recognizes outstanding alumni with the Alumni Achievement and Distinguished Service awards.

Alumni Achievement Award (Est. 1957)

The highest honor bestowed upon alumni by the UI Alumni Association on behalf of the University of Illinois. The award is presented to those alumni who have attained outstanding success and national or international distinction in their chosen profession or life’s work, and whose accomplishments reflect admirably on or bring honor to their Alma Mater.

Mary-Dell Chilton, ’60 LAS, PHD ’67 LAS

Dr. Mary-Dell Chilton is a pioneer in the field of agricultural biotechnology. Her work forever changed the way plant genetic research is conducted. She is recognized for her groundbreaking research and its continued impact on agriculture. Read More >>

Distinguished Service Award (Est. 1972)

Bestowed upon alumni, faculty, staff and friends by the UI Alumni Association on behalf of the University of Illinois. The award is presented to individuals or couples whose consistent, exceptional and meritorious service to the University has made a significant impact on the institution’s overall welfare and the advancement of its mission.

Jane Phillips Donaldson, ’65 LAS, MS ’67 MEDIA

Jane Phillips Donaldson is cofounder of Phillips Oppenheim, one of the first firms exclusively dedicated to providing high-level executive search service to nonprofit organizations, and to helping nonprofits and their boards raise the leadership bar to advance their missions. Read More >>
