A moment in history: Alumnus takes a bullet for President Reagan

The assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan that took place 32 years ago today is a searing episode from American history that’s remembered by many of us. As well as Reagan himself, two Illini were wounded at the scene:  Tim McCarthy ’72 BUS, a Secret Service agent who took a bullet for the President, and press secretary Jim Brady ’62 MEDIA (later honored with an Alumni Achievement Award).

Watch a video of Tim McCarthy talking about that day at cnn.com
