Alumnus nominated for Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year

Patrick J. Jessee, a 2007 UIUC  alumnus and a Firefighter/Paramedic for the Chicago Fire Department, has been selected as a candidate for the Illinois’ Chapter of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2014 Man & Woman of the Year Campaign.

The Man & Woman of the Year Campaign is a national donation driven campaign whose purpose is to raise funds on behalf of the Boy and Girl of the Year during a ten week period from March 2014 until May 17, 2014. The funds from this campaign will go towards funding research for blood cancers and financial support for patients and families who are unable to afford the expensive chemotherapy and radiation treatments for their disease.

Jessee's personally know the benefits of the services that the LLS provides. In 2011, he was diagnosed with a rare non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The LLS was the first organization that he reached out to for information and guidance about his treatment and life after cancer.

Jessee explains, "these past two years since I was declared in remission have been personally fulfilling. It is now my opportunity to give back to the organization that was there for me during my time of need so that they can be there for others during their time of need.

The LLS is a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt charitable organization and letters are available on request based upon the type of donation given. For information about donating, contact Patrick.
