Alumnus Randy Dunn named president of Southern Illinois University

Randy Dunn has been named the next President of Southern Illinois University. The annoucement was made Monday at an SIU Board of Trustees meeting in Edwardsville campus.
Dunn has been the president of Youngstown State University in Ohio for the past seven months. Dunn left Murray State University in Murray, KY in July after the MSUs Board of Regents voted against renewing his contract.
 
Dunn is replacing Glenn Poshard.  Poshard's contract expires on June 30th of this year.  Dunn will be making $430-thousand at SIU.  
 
Dunn is no stranger to the SIU system. He was an associate professor at SIU Carbondale in 1995, and would later become a department chair in 2000. In 2004, Dunn was selected to be the Illinois State Superintendent of Education.
 
Dunn graduated from Westmer High School in Mercer County, Illinois in 1976. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in teacher education from Illinois State University in 1980. He also completed his Masters degree in educational administration and foundations from Illinois State in 1983. Dunn received his doctorate in educational administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1991.
